I have been an RN for the past 32 years.   I began my career at the University of Iowa Hospital and Clinics in 1991 where I retired from in 2014.  I spent 10 years on the Neurosurgery Inpatient Unit and co-facilitated the Brain Tumor Support Group.  The remainder of my nursing career was spent on the Oncology Inpatient Unit.  I have worked with patients and their families through various stages of their admission from diagnosis, treatment, and end of life.  It is through my experience with this patient population that I became interested in becoming an End of Life Doula.  I possess the compassion and quiet presence that can bring comfort to both patient and family and believe no one deserves to die alone.  To be a part of a person's end of life journey is an honor.
